On Saturday, March 21st, Braces from Sandro and Everton Camargo and a header from Clayton made Eastern to easy winners in the FA Cup semifinal over Pegasus with a 5:0 win at Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground.
It only took four minutes from kick-off to open the score, when Everton Camargo found Sandro with a chipping cross, the Hong Kong team striker fired a low shot past four Pegasus defenders. The Blues soon had another chance to double their lead, when Chen Haowei down the right found Everton Camargo at the far post, whose goalward header was cleared by Chan Wai-ho at the goalmouth. Pegasus saw their closest chance from Chan Pak-hang, whose shot was deflected wide by Eduardo Praes. Further attempts from Chen Haowei and Lucas were collected by Leung Hing-kit to keep the score at 1:0 at half-time.
The dominance from Eastern continued after the break, and their lead was finally doubled 10 minutes later. Everton Camargo scored from the spot after Pegasus was penalised for a handball inside the ball. The Flying Horsemen attempted to get back into the game, but Sasaki Shu and Awal were both denied by Yapp Hung-fai. At 70’, Sandro added a second to his account with an easy header from Everton’s corner. With four minutes remaining on the clock, Clayton went unmarked for a corner and scored Eastern’s 4th with another easy header. Everton Camargo also completed his brace with a beautifully curved effort from outside the box to wrap up the game at the final minute.
Eastern will challenge the winner between R&F vs Taipo on May 31st for the title of the FA Cup, the winner of which would also be guaranteed a continental competition spot.
