Lee Man progress to the next round of the Hong Kong FA Cup on the last day of 2017 after celebrating a clear-cut 3-1 win over Dreams. The Dreamers opened the scoresheet thanks to Li Ka-chun, but goals from Denis Lima, Ze Victor and Stefan Pereira claimed the victory for the Bees in front of 1,159 people at Mong Kok Stadium.
Both sides started the match with caution. The first big chance came in the 19th minute when Yoon Donghun’s through-pass found Li Ka-chun unmarked at the right side of the box and he put the ball easily past Felix Luk.
Lee Man became more efficient after falling behind, claiming most of the possession, but their passes were not connecting well in the final third. However, they nonetheless managed to equalise from a corner, when Lima scored from close range in the 39th minute. The Bees took the lead just two minutes later, when Chiu Chun-kit’s header set up Ze Victor.
After the break, Lee Man extended their lead in the 57th minute, when Dreams’ goalkeeper To Chun-kiu’s clearance hit striker Denis Lima. To initially saved the first attempt, but the rebound fell back to Lima who set up Stefan Peireira and the Brazilian put the ball into the lower left corner of the goal.
Making matters even worse, Jose Galan was sent off, after receiving two yellow cards within just two minutes. Subsequently, the 10-men Dreams were unable to produce any threats to the Lee Man defense. The Bees celebrated an important 3-1 victory and progress to the next round where they will face FA Cup holders Kitchee on April 8th.
