Eastern miss chance to go top with draw against Lee Man

Tuesday evening, January 15th, saw Eastern holding onto a drab 0-0 draw with Lee Man in front of 811 supporters at Hong Kong Stadium. Lee Man sought to build on their impressive 2-0 victory over Pegasus last time out and they began the game with their two new signings, Ukrainian midfielder Sehii Shapoval and French striker Michael N’dri.

However, the home side had the better start, with Everton Camargo curling an effort over the bar and having a free kick deflecting narrowly wide. It was not before the second half that Lee Man became more dangerous. Five minutes past the restart N’dri took the ball down impressively, but could only fire at Yapp Hung-fai from the edge of the box. Stefan Pereira and Leong Ka-Hang then had penalty shouts waved away, just before the key incident of the game. At the one-hour mark Leong raced through on goal only to be hauled down by last man Wong Tsz-Ho who was given a straight red card.

The away side couldn’t take advantage of the extra man, however, and the match finished goalless with neither side deserving of the three points. Next up for Eastern is a title decider away to R&F, while Lee Man seek to build on the positive result to out-of-form Kitchee.
