Lee Man Football Club
Position in 2018/19:
Tseung Kwan O Sports Ground
HK$ 20 million
Despite this being the debut season for the club, this is not the first time that Lee Man have been involved in Hong Kong football. Last year, they were the main sponsors at Rangers, and due to the injection of funds they were able to add some quality players to their ranks and achieve a creditable seventh place finish. However, the company, which is a listed company at the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, has greater ambitions and decided to found their own team the following season. In order to enter immediately in the Hong Kong Premier League, Lee Man had to pay an application fee of HK$1 million, and have made some excellent additions to their squad over the summer. Their kits are branded with the subsidiary of Lee Man Chemicals, which owns factories in Jiangsu and Jiangxi with a total revenue of HK$1.81 billion. Due to their ethos of ‘hard work and unity’, the club have chosen yellow and black as their home colours, hence the nickname ‘The Bees’.
① Sham Shui Po Sports Ground is a real neighborhood pitch, with lots of nearby residents coming to watch. Lee Man had to move from Tseung Kwan O this season, but they will surely try to connect with the residents in the new home as well.
② Lee Man seem to be very serious with their Hong Kong football endeavours, and they could become a team that is here to stay. With a budget of HK$20 million, they have recruited some excellent signings, including Kitchee veterans Jordi Tarres and Nando Recio.
③ Lee Man have also put some thought in their appearance and they will be the only team in the Premier League donning yellow/black kits for their home games. This has also led to them earning the nickname ‘The Bees’, due to the club ethos of ‘hard work and unity’.
