C.P.K. lift the Macau FA Cup

With the ending of Macau Elite League it was time to turn attentions to the Macau FA Cup. This year the competition was shorten, only the 10 teams from 1st division played the cup. C.P.K. proved to be the strongest one winning their first title ever.

It took only ten days to play a shorten version of the Macau FA Cup, the competition started with a unusual preliminary round, the match between Alfandega and Hang Sai ended in a 3-0 win for Alfandega because Hang Sai forfeit the match giving Alfandega the free pass for the next round.

The quarter finals round saw no surprises, Benfica Macau, C.P.K., Ching Fung and Sporting Macau, all went through the semi-finals. Semi-finals round saw last edition FA Cup winner, Benfica Macau eliminated by C.P.K. in penalty’s after a 3-3- draw during the 90 minutes, in the other match, Ching Fung trashed Sporting with a surprising 6-1 win.

The big final was decided, C.P.K. was the favorite team to win it, but Ching Fung proved during the season that their counter attack style of football can cause a lot of upsets in better teams. C.P.K. which entered to the match with a caretaker coach, opened the score in the first kick of the match, Ho Ka Seng scored in the first minute, spoiling the Ching Fung strategy of defend the 0-0 and strike C.P.K. in the counter. The remaining of the first half was completely dominated by C.P.K. which missed a lot of chances to improve the score.

The second half started with another C.P.K. goal, this time in the 3rd minute after the break, Danilo Lins scored the second of the match. After the goal Ching Fung lost a lot of morale and in minute 58 Danilo Lins scored his second, two minutes latter Diego Patriota scored the fourth of the match and in minute 69 Lam Ka Seng scored a fifth goal for C.P.K. At this time the game was finished and Ching Fung was a defeated team, but still managed to score a consolation goal by Oumar Diarra at minute 82.

The match ended in a easy 5-1 win for C.P.K., claiming the club first title ever after a 2nd place finish in Macau Elite League. C.P.K. proved once more that is the only team that can compete with Benfica for the supremacy of Macau football.

Before the final, it was played the 3rd place match between Benfica Macau and Sporting Macau, with the Macau champions trashing Sporting with a 5-0 win.

With the Macau FA Cup final, the season reaches the end, the Macau Elite League comes back in 2019 but in between there will be a lot of transfer news to come and the famous Macau 7 a-side tournament to be played.
