Tai Po continued to put pressure on Pegasus after they beat R&F at Tai Po Sports Ground thanks to goals from Wong Wai and Dudu. They temporarily rose to the second place in the Premier League.
As expected, Tai Po started the game actively. David Lazari provided a good cross to Lee Ka-yiu, but his shot went wide. After that, Tai Po’s chances mainly came from attempts from outside the box, but Tan Chun-lok, David Lazari and Igor Sartori all failed to find the target. The Greens continuous pressure was rewarded in the 28th minute when Lee Ka-yiu’s pass found Wong Wai who turned around to hit a beautiful shot past Zhou Yuchen to give Tai Po the lead.
Meanwhile, R&F had a chance to equalize in the 38th minute when Jack Sealy’s back pass was intercepted by Li Rui, but his shot went over the bar. David Lazari set up Tan Chun-lok for a shot in the 43rd minute which went wide. So the first-half ended with Tai Po leading by one goal.
Tai Po continued to press for a second goal in the second-half. Three minutes after the match restarted, Wong Wai’s freekick found Igor Sartori who headed the ball to Yuen Chun-sing, but the local forward’s header was aimed too high. Wong Wai had a chance three minutes later, but this time his shot was well saved by Zhou Yuchen.
Tai Po finally got their second goal in the 76th minute when Wong Wai’s corner found Edurado Praes who set up Dudu to head in from close range. Just two minutes after that, R&F was awarded a penalty when Giovane Da Silva used his skill to went past Edurado Praes and was tripped from behind by Tan Chun-lok, but Giovane’s penalty was saved by Li Hon-ho.
As as result, the game finished with Tai Po winning 2-0. However, runners-up contender Pegasus beat Yuen Long a few days later on Tuesday, May 1st to claim their spot in the league back. The Flying Horsemen and the Greens will face each other in the last round to decide who will be the runners-up in the Premier League this season.
