With the Asian Games about to begin, Eastern stalwart and Hong Kong’s long serving national team keeper Yapp Hung Fai gave his views on Hong Kong’s chances of success in Indonesia and also previewed Eastern’s upcoming Premier League campaign.
“I think that the players of the Hong Kong football team at the Asian Games have great potential, as a lot have Premier League experience. The team is also strengthened with Lam Ka-wai, Nando Recio and Jordi Tarres, who are all top notch players. Hong Kong should be at the same level with Indonesia, Laos, Palestine, and Chinese Taipei. They might even be able to win the group.”
Yapp also briefly mentioned Eastern’s disappointing season last year, but looked ahead with optimism for the new season, believing that the new signings would make a big impact.
“Last year, Eastern experienced a low point and our results weren’t ideal, so for the coming year, each player will work harder, along with new foreign players who signed, and this will improve the team. Eastern will focus on strengthening team dynamics, so we can play better against teams like Kitchee.”
