Kitchee, one of the semi-finalists in the 2014 AFC Cup, won their first group match in Hong Kong at the expense of last year’s Singaporean Cup winner, Balestier Khalsa FC. A crowd of 19,522 turned out to watch South China take on New York Cosmos on 19 February 2015, the first day of the Lunar New Year, in an entertaining encounter that needed a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner after the match finished in a 2-2 draw. The 12th week of the Hong Kong Premier League probably appeared to be less spectacular, with no pairings of the major teams and Eastern SC on a break.
